marsh was a kids on brooms character i made for a campaign with my friends that ended up never taking off. but! i really liked them, so i wanted to do something else with their character. in the original ttrpg version he was a meek little kid who was an inexplicable ghost magnet & i wanted to think of a version of him that never got the (presumed) intervention and friendship he would've gotten in the campaign. & so the whole world sprung up around him. everybody clap for my friend marsh maggot please.

the big focus of this part of the story is marsh & zhiyuan & their relationship, but sal and alma and mabel have a role in it too - though mostly because of their connection to the previous two.
cursed divorcees (never married) reconcile their relationship in a truly miserable work environment. they let a 16 year old in here.
